Privacy Policy
Use Limits.
Learn21 does not collect, maintain, use, or share student personal information beyond that needed for authorized educational/school purposes, or as authorized by the parent/student. ‘Educational/School purposes’ are services or functions that customarily take place at the direction of the educational institution/agency or their teacher/employee, for which the institutions or agency would otherwise use its own employees, and that aid in the administration or improvement of educational and school activities (e.g., instruction, administration, and development and improvement of products/services intended for educational/school use). Learn21 only uses student data for educational/school purposes, or as authorized by the parent/student.
Notice of Changes to Privacy Policy.
Learn21 will provide notice of material changes to our privacy policy, and seek consent to these changes. We will provide users a prominent statement indicating the changes are in effect and users will give consent by continuing the first time they log in on following the change.
Sale of Data.
Learn21 does not sell student data.
Student Profiles.
Learn21 does not create or keep student profiles for non-educational purposes
Behaviorally Targeted Ads.
Learn21 does not permit behavioral targeting of advertisements – i.e. ads that use any behavioral information to provide targeted advertising to students. Learn21 also pledges to not collect, use, or share such information for any purposes beyond the authorized educational or school purposes, or as authorized by the student or parent.
Third Parties.
Learn21 will only share student data with third parties that are consistent with our policies. Any third party that Learn21 shares information with will have privacy practices consistent with our privacy policy. This also includes links to third parties.
Data Accessibility.
Learn21 will provide access to student personal information to parents and students for review and correction whether the access is through Learn21 or through the school, teacher, or educational entity. Learn21 is committed to data accessibility, namely that students will be able to review and correct their data, whether directly through the Learn21 account, or through their school.
Data Retention.
Learn21 does not retain student personal information for longer than necessary to deliver services or for school purposes. Personal information will not be kept in backups or not be deleted because of data commingling. Learn21 will not keep data longer than necessary, and will delete/destroy data when it is no longer necessary.
Security.
Learn21 will maintain a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of student personal information against risks – such as unauthorized access or use, or unintended or inappropriate disclosure – through the use of administrative, technological, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
Personal Identifiable Information.
Learn21 does not collect personally identifiable information. Student personal information is personally identifiable information, as well as other information, when it is both collected and maintained on an individual level and is linked to personally identifiable information. Learn21 recognizes that indirect identifiers, such as an email, IP address, and the other kinds of information that are technical and non-personal are personal information and regarding use limits, targeting, profiling, third parties, access, security, etc.
